Today, I will be sharing to you how I usually pump up my rice with the powerful nutrients of turmeric. Remember, I showed you before how to make the turmeric powder? You may find the link here. I use this powder to my cooking recipes, and of those is the turmeric rice. I was very hesitant to share recipes in this blog, because as a Kapampangan, I am not used to really measuring my ingredients. Everything is measured depending on my taste buds at that time. But for today, I will give you tentative measurements, but of course, it’s always up to you if you want to add or lessen any of the ingredients (like what I always do with the recipes I see online).
Here is what you need:
5 cups of rice (steamed)
1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
1/2 garlic bulb
1/4 tsp iodized salt
1 pinch of pepper
- Fry the garlic until golden brown.
- Put turmeric powder, then immediately put the rice as soon as the cooking oil turns yellow orange.
- Add salt and pepper.
- Stir until all grains get even color of yellow.
You may also simply place your turmeric powder when you steam your rice. That’s a lot easier, especially if you don’t have much time to prepare.
Best served with Asian dishes. We had Bokchoy/Pechay with Oyster Sauce together with our turmeric rice. The kids loved the turmeric rice, because of its attractive yellow color. That’s a sure way of helping them eat nutritious and delicious meal. 🙂 #chimes
